Findom is short for financial domination. It's a power exchange in which money is part of the dynamic: tributes, gifts, spending rules, or handing a dominant a budget to control. You'll often see it alongside femdom, with a dominant woman called a findomme and a submissive sometimes called a finsub. "Paypig" is a word some subs use for themselves. It should be a name someone chose, not a joke you put on them.
The appeal is usually psychological. The money stands in for devotion, surrender or service. The number itself is not the whole kink. Attention, tasks, ritual and the feeling of being directed matter just as much, and for plenty of people they matter more.
What it is, and what it isn't
Findom is something you agree to, with a person who knows it's a kink and who will stop when you say so. It is not a surprise invoice. It is not a promise that paying someone will make them your partner, and it is not financial advice.
A few shapes it actually takes:
- A small tribute before a scene or a chat, agreed in advance.
- Tasks: "move this amount into savings", "ask before you buy that", "send me a photo of the coffee you skipped".
- A weekly cap the submissive offered and the dominant agreed to respect.
- Fantasy-only findom: dirty talk about money, with nothing sent.
If there is no cap, no way to stop, and no shared understanding, you don't have findom yet. You have a risk.
How to start without emptying your pocket
Talk first, the way you would for any other dynamic. Negotiation here is mostly practical:
- What you want to feel. Devotion, teasing, structure, humiliation, service. Say it.
- The amount you can spend and still pay rent, food, travel and debt. That number is a limit, not a dare.
- What you get in return, if anything: a reply, a task, a scene, or simply the act of giving. "Nothing but the thrill" is allowed. "I thought we were dating" is a mismatch you should catch early.
- How either of you stops. A word, a message, a date when you review it.
Try the smallest version that still feels real. The price of a takeaway, once, with a clear note about what it was for, tells you more than a grand gesture. If the small version feels bad, the large version will feel worse.
Keep the dominant's limits in view too. Not every Domme wants to handle someone's finances, and "real findommes don't have boundaries" is nonsense. Dominance includes the right to refuse.
Safety and your actual life
Money is a safety issue even when nobody is tying anyone up.
- Don't send money you need for housing, food, medicine or money you owe.
- Don't share bank passwords, identity documents or photos of your cards.
- Don't accept a dynamic that threatens you, blackmails you, or tells you that stopping means you owe a fee.
- A dominant you've never met can still be a consensual findom partner. They can also be a stranger asking for cash. The difference is whether you can say no and walk away without punishment.
- Review the cap on a calm day, not in the middle of a scene.
Findom doesn't make you better with money, and it doesn't ruin you by definition. The agreement does the work. If spending is already tangled up with debt, secrecy or panic, sort that with someone qualified before you add a kink on top. This page is not that help.
Either person can end it. A dominant who sulks, exposes you, or demands "one more payment" after you've stopped is breaking the consent that made it findom.
Common mistakes
- Letting a scene decide the amount.
- Having no written cap because "trust" felt more romantic.
- Confusing a paid dynamic with a promise of romance.
- Using findom to humiliate someone with real money worries they didn't offer as part of the play.
- Hiding the spending from yourself. If you can't look at the number in daylight, it's too big.
FAQ
What is a finsub or a paypig?
A finsub is a submissive in a financial-domination dynamic. Paypig is a ruder nickname some people wear on purpose, often with a humiliation flavour. Both are roles adults choose. They aren't an excuse to mock someone's real finances, and they don't mean the person has given up the right to a budget or a no.
Is findom just paying someone for attention?
Sometimes attention is part of the deal, and that should be said plainly. Sometimes the payment is the scene, and the dominant owes nothing afterwards except whatever you both agreed. Ask. If you need a relationship and they are offering a tribute dynamic, believe them and decide with that in mind.
Can findom stay small?
Yes. A tiny agreed amount, or even talk with no money sent, is still findom if the power and the consent are real. Bigger is not more advanced. The version you can afford, and stop, is the one that works.
How do I leave a findom dynamic?
Say that you're done, stop sending money, and block anyone who threatens you or demands a fee to quit. You don't have to negotiate your way out of a threat. A consensual dynamic ends when either person ends it. If someone is exposing your private information or pressing you for money you can't refuse, that's a safety problem, and people you trust or local support services are the right call.
